Since 1966, the city has been selecting individuals who have personally demonstrated love for Busan and greatly contributed to its development as honorary citizens. To date, a total of 277 people have been designated as honorary citizens of Busan, actively working in various fields such as economy, culture, and science.
Wonha Yoo, Head of Domestic Business Headquarters, has contributed to the development of the Busan region through the Busan International Motor Show, Gijang Hyundai Dream Ball Park, Hyundai Motorstudio Busan, and sponsorship of the Busan International Film Festival. He was recognized for his efforts in promoting and supporting the bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan, leading to his selection as an honorary citizen of Busan.
The city stated that Vice President Yoo, who served as the head of the Busan regional headquarters in 2015, has a special understanding and affection for Busan, and there are high expectations for his role as a bridge with Hyundai Motor Company to foster and develop the automotive parts industry, a key industry in the Busan region.
Those selected as honorary citizens receive the Busan City honorary citizenship certificate, honorary citizen business cards, and city promotional souvenirs. They also enjoy various benefits such as regular subscriptions to Busan city publications and invitations to city government briefings, major festivals, and events.
