Yeo's Top Supporter 'Na Kyung-won'... Party Leadership Candidate Alliance Rumors Stir
Ahn Cheol-soo Rejects
Kim Ki-hyun Says "Similar Thoughts to Mine"
Na Kyung-won Actually Says "Lately, I Hear a Lot to Become Party Leader"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] There are rumors of an alliance between Na Kyung-won, Vice Chairperson of the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee who is leading in approval ratings among the People Power Party supporters, and other party leadership candidates. Congressman Kim Ki-hyun hinted at the possibility of an alliance, saying, "We have similar thoughts," but Congressman Ahn Cheol-soo dismissed it, stating, "We have never discussed this."
On the morning of the 26th, Congressman Kim appeared on BBS Radio's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal' and responded to the host's question, "Will Vice Chairperson Na eventually join the 'Kim-Jang (Kim Ki-hyun-Jang Je-won) alliance'?" by saying, "We have formed a good consensus with each other."
He added, "Since it involves the other party, it would be disrespectful to speak on their behalf, so I will not speculate on that," but also said, "Looking ahead, how we will divide roles for the success of the Yoon Seok-youl administration? I am a responsible politician who can give that sufficient consideration."
Congressman Kim is drawing attention with the 'Kim-Jang alliance' with Congressman Jang Je-won, who is considered a 'Yunhaekgwan (core associate of Yoon Seok-youl)' within the party. He also left open the possibility of an alliance with Vice Chairperson Na, who has high support within the party.
On the other hand, Congressman Ahn dismissed the alliance rumors. He said, "We have not discussed such matters yet, and Vice Chairperson Na has already stated that there will absolutely be no alliance." Regarding whether Vice Chairperson Na will run in the party leadership election, he said, "It would be good if she comes out as a hopeful," adding, "It would broaden the choices for party members and be a good opportunity to understand the composition of the party members this time."
Regarding the rumors of alliances among party leadership candidates, another candidate, Congressman Yoon Sang-hyun, criticized through social media, saying, "There are talks of the Kim-Jang alliance, the An-Jang alliance (Ahn Cheol-soo-Jang Je-won), and the Na-An alliance (Na Kyung-won-Ahn Cheol-soo). These various alliance theories sound like a sign of insecurity," and added, "The true alliance is the sure-win alliance, the Yoon Party Alliance (Yoon Sang-hyun and party members),” criticizing the situation.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairperson Na left a meaningful message on social media the day before, saying, "The most frequent comment I hear these days is 'Please become the party leader,'" and asked, "What kind of leadership do the people and party members want from the People Power Party leader?" This suggests she is opening the possibility of running beyond just alliances with other leadership candidates.
