[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On December 24th, Christmas Eve, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, conducted a special safety inspection to prevent accidents in the Hongdae Tourism Special Zone, where a large crowd gathered, along with about 100 local residents and Mapo-gu officials.
Following the cold wave warning issued on the evening of the 23rd, Mayor Park inspected every corner of the Hongdae Tourism Special Zone on the 24th, Saturday and Christmas Eve, to prevent safety accidents caused by crowd congestion, checking crowd density and pedestrian obstacles.
The safety inspections conducted by the district will take place daily for eight days from December 23rd to 31st, excluding December 25th.
In particular, for “Safe Mapo with Residents,” autonomous crime prevention officers and honorary tourism security guards composed of residents from 16 neighborhoods of Mapo-gu and local residents will participate together.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Mapo-gu has made thorough preparations to respond systematically in stages according to the ‘Crowd Management Response Manual for Multi-Dense Areas,’ regardless of whether there is an event organizer or not. We will do our best to create a ‘safe society where daily life is guaranteed,’ where not only Mapo-gu residents but also anyone visiting Mapo can safely return home after spending their planned day.”
On the afternoon of December 25th, Christmas and weekend, the ‘Jungnangcheon Nowon Snow Sledding Park’ inside the Jungnangcheon Inline Skate Rink under Nokcheon Bridge was filled with citizens.
The district operates the winter-themed park ‘Jungnangcheon Nowon Snow Sledding Park’ until February 5, 2023, where families can enjoy healing together close to home without having to travel far to the outskirts of Seoul for winter experiences.
