[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Ahn Cheol-gyeong, President of the Korea Insurance Research Institute, will extend his term, which expires this year, until 2025.
The Korea Insurance Research Institute announced on the 23rd that Ahn Cheol-gyeong, the current president, was reappointed as the 6th president at the general meeting of members. The new term will be from January 1 next year to December 31, 2025.
Born in 1963, President Ahn graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Sociology and earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the same university. He has held positions such as Director of the Financial Policy Office, Director of Research Coordination, and Vice President at the Korea Insurance Research Institute. He has also served on various committees in external organizations such as the Financial Services Commission, Financial Supervisory Service, Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, and Seoul Metropolitan Government.

In his inaugural speech, President Ahn stated, "I will strive to fulfill the role of a market guardian that provides early warnings to insurance companies and consumers," adding, "We will strengthen the research organization, activate center organizations dealing with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and mobility, and hold policy forums to derive new future tasks for the insurance market."
