Two Films Account for 87.1% of Box Office Revenue Share
Although the cold wave has reached its peak, the theaters are expected to be hot. On the weekend of Christmas, the Hollywood blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water will face off against director Yoon Je-kyun's musical film Hero, which has surpassed 20 million viewers.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data as of the 23rd, Avatar: The Way of Water attracted 225,407 viewers on the 22nd, securing the number one spot at the box office. Since its release on the 14th, a total of 3,676,000 people have watched the film.

The second place was taken by the film Hero, which drew 83,910 viewers. Released on the 21st, it attracted 200,485 viewers in just two days. Adapted from the musical of the same name, the film depicts Ahn Jung-geun, who assassinated Ito Hirobumi in Harbin, was sentenced to death by a Japanese court, and portrays the period from when he was preparing for the act to the moment of his death.
The film has achieved a CGV Golden Egg Index of 93%, a Naver audience rating of 9.06, a Lotte Cinema audience rating of 9.5, and a Megabox actual viewer rating of 9.6. Given the positive responses from actual viewers, it is expected to steadily attract audiences through word of mouth.
