Gochang-gun Secures 7 Billion Won Special Grant... Largest Ever Amount

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, has additionally received 2.8 billion KRW in special grants from central government ministries in the second half of the year, securing a total of 7 billion KRW in special grants for 18 projects this year.

According to the county on the 23rd, this special grant is the largest ever, increasing by 2.1 billion KRW compared to 4.9 billion KRW last year.

This valuable achievement was made just over two months after securing 2.6 billion KRW for five projects including the Gwangseunghang Wharf construction project in October, and it is expected to give further momentum to urgent issues and disaster-related work.

The second half (2nd round) special grant projects secured are ▲ Simwon-myeon Indoor Sports Facility Construction Project (1 billion KRW) ▲ Heungdeok Agricultural and Industrial Complex Seokgyo Stream Maintenance Project (700 million KRW) ▲ Gochang-gun Nursing Home Dementia Care Room New Construction (400 million KRW) ▲ Sanggeon Stream Embankment Maintenance Project (700 million KRW).

The ‘Simwon-myeon Indoor Sports Facility Construction Project’ has been a long-standing wish of the residents of Simwon-myeon. Due to the long-term disuse of the Simwon-myeon National Sports Center, there was no indoor sports facility available for residents.

The county plans to construct a sports facility worth 1 billion KRW, aiming for completion in the first half of 2024.

The ‘Heungdeok Agricultural and Industrial Complex Seokgyo Stream Maintenance Project’ is a project to repair the stream with collapsed slopes within the agricultural and industrial complex.

Due to insufficient water flow cross-sectional area, landslide of soil continuously occurs during heavy rain in this dangerous section. Upon completion, it is expected to prevent safety accidents for employees of companies in the complex and nearby residents, as well as create a pleasant corporate environment.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “This special grant was secured focusing on projects that protect the safety of Gochang residents and improve convenience,” adding, “Especially, through cooperation with National Assembly member Yoon Jun-byeong, we were able to achieve the great result of maximum securing.”

He continued, “We will continue to build close cooperative relationships with the political circles and central government ministries to strive for securing urgent projects.”
