Disclosure of Asset Registration by Government Official Ethics Committee... Kim Ki-hwan, Chairman of Korea Foundation for International Exchange, Holds 9.8 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The Government Ethics Committee for Public Officials disclosed on the 23rd the asset registration details of high-ranking public officials, including presidential secretaries appointed in September. Among the public officials affiliated with the Presidential Secretariat, the assets of three individuals, including Jang Kyungsang, Political Secretary 2 of the Presidential Office, were made public.
The disclosure covers 74 individuals whose status changed between September 2 and October 1 this year, including 16 newly appointed high-ranking officials of grade 1 or higher, 15 promoted officials, and 33 retirees.
Among current high-ranking public officials, Kim Kihwan, Chairman of the Korea Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported the highest registered assets amounting to 9,849.56 million KRW. Following him were Park Sangmi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea at UNESCO, with 9,406.3 million KRW, and Cho Seongryeol, Consul General at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Osaka, with 7,450.03 million KRW. Among retirees, Lee Geun, former Chairman of the Korea Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported the highest registered assets of 7,113.45 million KRW.

Among the Presidential Office officials, Secretary Jang reported total assets of 5,090 million KRW, including an apartment jointly owned with his spouse in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, valued at 3,500 million KRW, and deposits worth 650 million KRW. Jeon Heekyung, Political Secretary 1 of the Presidential Office, reported total assets of 200 million KRW, all in deposits without any building property. Additionally, Jeong Yonguk, Secretary for Public Proposals at the Presidential Office, reported assets totaling 3,300 million KRW, including an apartment in Sejong City, deposits worth 1,330 million KRW, and stocks valued at 530 million KRW.
