Gyeonggi Office of Education Increases Staff to Reduce Administrative Workload for Public Officials
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will increase the number of local government employees next year to alleviate the administrative burden within schools and strengthen support for educational administration tasks.
The Office of Education announced on the 22nd that it has changed the staffing standards for local government employees at schools of all levels as of January 1 next year, reflecting the demands from schools to resolve difficulties caused by a shortage of administrative personnel in standalone kindergartens and small-scale schools and to improve educational conditions.
The existing staffing standards for educational administration officials at schools of all levels are ▲ 1 person for 6 classes or fewer ▲ 2 persons for 7 to 25 classes ▲ 3 persons for 26 to 56 classes ▲ 4 persons for 57 classes or more.
Starting next year, the staffing standard for educational administration officials at public standalone kindergartens will be increased by one person each to 2 persons for 7 classes or fewer and 3 persons for 8 classes or more.
For elementary schools, the standard will also be increased to 2 persons for 22 classes or fewer, 3 persons for 23 to 55 classes, and 4 persons for 56 classes or more. The minimum number of educational administration officials at schools of all levels is set to two, and the class number criteria for deploying three or more officials have been lowered.
For small-scale schools such as those in rural areas that currently have only one educational administration official, one additional person will be assigned to improve working conditions. Additional personnel will also be deployed to overcrowded schools with 75 classes or more and schools employing disabled government officials.
