Jeju Island Publishes COVID-19 Response White Paper... A Record of 819 Days
First Confirmed Case to Reemergence Response Plan: Published Booklet on Over Two Years of Frontline Quarantine Efforts
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 22nd that it has published a white paper documenting 819 days of quarantine response from the first domestic COVID-19 case on January 20, 2020, to the establishment of medical governance for the resurgence.
The 'COVID-19 Response White Paper,' consisting of six chapters, includes ▲a timeline of major issues ▲key statistics on 'quarantine measures,' quarantine strategies, case-by-case quarantine actions, and evaluation of quarantine policies ▲'safety policies' such as disaster response policies, securing daily safety, economic welfare support, and promoting daily life recovery ▲'treatment and management of confirmed cases' including COVID-19 patient treatment status, medical resource management system, and current status of beds, personnel, and equipment.
The white paper was prepared to provide decision-making guidelines for responses in various fields such as overseas and domestic inflows, considering Jeju's geographical characteristics in the event of an unprecedented infectious disease like COVID-19.
To ensure thorough and successful quarantine, various COVID-19 statistical data can be immediately checked through the white paper to promote health and medical administration-related projects, and it is expected to serve as a 'data library' to facilitate easy searching of related materials.
The newly published white paper will be distributed to related institutions such as libraries, administrative agencies, and medical institutions, and will be made publicly available on the Jeju provincial website so that residents can access the desired information at any time.
Governor Oh Young-hoon said, “Jeju was the first in the nation to operate a fever monitoring system at airports and ports and took proactive measures such as implementing special entry procedures at the border level,” adding, “Jeju Safe Code provided safe tourism for tourists and a reassuring daily life for residents.”
He continued, “All these records will serve as the foundation for more thorough and substantial quarantine policies to protect the safety and precious lives of residents when another pandemic occurs,” and added, “I express my respect and gratitude to the medical staff and quarantine officials who have devoted their full efforts on the front lines of quarantine.”
