Received High Scores in Forest Recreation, First Military Honor in Forestry Field
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, was recognized for its forestry administrative capabilities by receiving the highest award in the forestry administration evaluation conducted by Jeollanam-do.
The forestry administration evaluation is conducted annually to inspect the performance of forestry projects and establish development plans for the 22 cities and counties of Jeollanam-do.
This year, the evaluation was conducted based on a total of 18 indicators across 3 fields, reflecting major indicators from the government joint evaluation and national key tasks.
Wando-gun received excellent results in each field and earned the highest award by scoring high in forestry recreation areas such as roadside trees, fine dust blocking forests, and urban forest creation and management.
In particular, the award holds great significance as it recognized efforts such as securing new national funding projects, establishing the National Subtropical Arboretum, and actively promoting forestry recreation administration.
Park Eun-jae, head of Wando Forestry Recreation Division, said, “As a result of applying major indicators such as national key tasks to suit the characteristics of our region and promoting forestry projects, we received the highest award in the forestry administration evaluation for the first time.” He added, “We will continue to carry out active forestry administration so that the value of our county’s green resources can shine even more.”
Meanwhile, Wando-gun is transforming into a forestry recreation welfare city through major projects such as the National Subtropical Arboretum and the creation of a forestry welfare complex, and is leading the forestry and marine healing industry by linking the clean sea and the evergreen subtropical forest throughout the four seasons.
