The opening ceremony held the day before at Seoul Yeongdeungpo Station was attended by about 20 people involved in the 'Seomseom Oksu' project, including Kyung-sik Lim, Head of Management Support Division at KB Securities, Geon-ho Kang, Yeongdeungpo Station Manager of Korea Railroad Corporation, and Seung-hee Choi, Head of Employment Support Department at Seoul Southern Branch of Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.
'Seomseom Oksu' is a public interest project jointly participated by Korea Railroad Corporation, Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, and private companies to provide jobs for career-interrupted women with disabilities. Women with disabilities who have completed specialized education related to nail care work at the store and provide free nail care services to railroad passengers. The ‘Seomseom Oksu’ stores have been operating at a total of seven stations, including Busan Station starting at the end of 2019, Yongsan Station, and Daejeon Station.
KB Securities, the first securities company to participate in the ‘Seomseom Oksu’ project, directly hired women with disabilities to open the Yeongdeungpo Station branch and set up the store so that women with disabilities can provide nail care services in an optimal working environment. Going forward, KB Securities will oversee everything from personnel management to store operations.
Along with KB Securities, Korea Railroad Corporation provided space free of charge within the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Station building, and Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled supported customized job training for nail care workers with disabilities.
Kyung-sik Lim, Head of Management Support Division at KB Securities, said, "We are grateful to participate in this ‘Seomseom Oksu’ public interest project and provide stable jobs for women with disabilities," adding, "KB Securities will continue to lead as a company fulfilling social responsibility based on ESG by walking together with socially vulnerable groups."
The ‘Seomseom Oksu’ Yeongdeungpo Station branch is available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and anyone presenting a same-day train ticket can receive free nail care services.
