Jeongeup-si Awarded Encouragement Prize for 'Taxpayer Protection Officer Best Practices'
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 21st that it won the Encouragement Award at the ‘Local Taxpayer Protection Officer Best Practice Presentation Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 25 million won as an incentive.
The Local Taxpayer Protection Officer Best Practice Presentation Contest, held annually since 2019, was established to activate the taxpayer protection officer system and share best practices.
This presentation contest was conducted among 14 finalists selected through preliminary screening from 70 submissions by metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide.
The evaluation combined on-site judging, which reflected content completeness, audience delivery, and Q&A responsiveness, with preliminary screening scores.
In the presentation, the city introduced an active administrative case under the theme “Was there such a thing as ‘Delinquent Tax Disposition Postponement’?” receiving favorable evaluations from the judges.
The city guided companies facing difficulties in securing loans for business funding due to the inability to issue local tax payment certificates about the ‘Delinquent Tax Disposition Postponement’ system.
In particular, although the statutory processing period for the ‘Delinquent Tax Disposition Postponement’ system is seven days, the city was recognized for its proactive administration by processing the application within five hours on the same day, considering the taxpayer’s urgent situation.
Taxpayer Protection Officer Lee Hyunju said, “This award gave us another opportunity to reflect on how important the role of the taxpayer protection officer is,” and added, “We will further activate the taxpayer protection officer system and strive to protect the rights and interests of taxpayers facing difficulties.”
Meanwhile, since 2018, the city has introduced the taxpayer protection officer system to protect the rights and interests of local tax taxpayers and resolve grievance complaints.
