Gwangju Seo-gu Selected as 'Outstanding Institution' for Mobile Healthcare...The Only One in Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that it was the only autonomous district in Gwangju to be selected as an excellent institution in the 2022 'Mobile Healthcare Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Promotion Institute on the 20th.

This project uses smart devices and mobile apps for health center professionals such as doctors and exercise experts to assess the individual's health, nutritional status, and physical activity status, and provides counseling and education in the areas of health, nutrition, and exercise, offering customized health management services for six months.

The contest was held to discover and reward local governments that efficiently operate health center mobile healthcare projects and contribute to community health promotion, as the importance of non-face-to-face health management projects has been increasingly emphasized recently.

Seo-gu was included among the 10 local governments awarded the Korea Health Promotion Institute Director's Award, receiving high evaluation for linking the mobile healthcare project with various resident health promotion programs implemented by each department, such as resident fitness measurement, exercise programs, smoking cessation projects, and walking projects.

A Seo-gu official said, "We will continue to cooperate with other departments and institutions to effectively promote the mobile healthcare project," and added, "We will actively reflect excellent cases from other regions in the project."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu recruited participants (those with one or more health risk factors) for the mobile healthcare project during April and provided health management services to a total of 215 residents for six months.
