[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Preparations are underway for the entry of premium agricultural specialty products from Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, into the Japanese market.
The county announced on the 21st that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for export business with Geosan Japan Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Soon-bae), a Korean food import company, to expand exports of Gochang agricultural specialty products to Japan.
The Gochang delegation, led by County Governor Shim Deok-seop, who is currently visiting Japan, signed the business agreement at the Tokyo headquarters of Geosan Japan Co., Ltd. on the same day.
Geosan Japan Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Soon-bae) is a mid-sized company that has been distributing and selling excellent Korean products through online stores such as Q10, eBay, Amazon, and offline stores in Japan for 17 years.
Through this agreement, exports of Gochang products such as Bokbunja wine, seaweed, and instant frozen foods, amounting to about $100,000 annually, are expected to proceed.
CEO Lee Soon-bae of Geosan Japan said, “Although we have handled Korean products for a long time, through this business agreement, we learned that Gochang-gun is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area producing clean and diverse agricultural specialty products,” and added, “We will actively cooperate to expand exports of Gochang products to Japan.”
Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “I am pleased to establish a foothold for the entry of Gochang agricultural specialty products into the Japanese market with Geosan Japan Co., Ltd.,” and added, “We will strive to ensure that healthy food products from Gochang are sold more in the Japanese market in connection with the 2023 Gochang World Heritage City Visit Year.”
