Gwangju Nam-gu, Best Institution for AI·IoT-Based 'Senior Health Management'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, was selected as the best institution in the AI·IoT-based Elderly Health Management category in the ‘2022 Local Government Health Promotion Project Digital Healthcare Performance Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
According to Nam-gu on the 20th, an award ceremony for meritorious institutions and an excellent case presentation in the digital healthcare category were held in the Sapphire Ballroom at Lotte Hotel World in Seoul that afternoon.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare conducted evaluations on mobile healthcare, visiting health management, and AI·IoT-based elderly health management fields targeting local governments nationwide to promote efficient operation of health promotion projects and community health promotion.
The evaluation criteria included the utilization of regional health medical information systems, service differentiation, potential for spreading and sharing achievements, and efforts made to expand the projects.
Nam-gu was selected as the best institution by presenting new types of cases such as AI speaker monitoring and health meal missions using smart devices as specialized projects in the AI·IoT-based elderly health management category.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare showed great interest in the health meal event case using AI speakers and ICT technology among various health promotion projects introduced to about 600 elderly residents aged 65 and older in Nam-gu who require improvement in chronic disease and health management behaviors.
In fact, elderly residents in the district start their lively mornings by setting songs from their favorite trot singers as wake-up songs through AI speakers, and maintain a regular lifestyle by checking daily weather and walking activities.
Additionally, elderly residents participate in the health meal event by taking photos of the meals they prepared and posting related pictures on the ‘OneulGeongang’ (TodayHealth) app, where the public health center provides nutritional counseling and shares nutritional management methods for chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes through diet information.
