Uiryeong-gun Ranks First Nationwide in Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Public Resource Resident Access Convenience'

Uiryeong-gun ranked first nationwide in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s “2022 Public Resource Opening and Sharing Service Performance Evaluation.”
Uiryeong-gun was selected as an excellent local government with the highest rating for two consecutive years, and especially in this year’s evaluation, it received the highest score among 227 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, securing first place.
The “2022 Public Resource Opening and Sharing Service Performance Evaluation” is an award given by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to local governments that creatively open and share public resources with residents to enhance public convenience. Four areas are evaluated: service management system establishment, service promotion, service quality improvement, and excellent policy implementation. Eight local governments were selected in the comprehensive excellence category and eight in the excellent policy category.
Uiryeong-gun’s “Shared Laundry Service” received the highest score amid favorable reviews from the judging panel and was named a representative excellent case of a resident-centered shared service. To resolve difficulties caused by the absence of laundromats, Uiryeong-gun operates shared laundromats at four locations in the eup and myeon areas, and to improve the poor laundry environment for workers’ uniforms, it established a joint laundry facility for workers’ uniforms in areas densely populated with small and medium-sized enterprises and factories.
Additionally, the creation of community spaces for sharing ideas such as the Uiryeong-eup Book Cafe, Yongdeok-myeon Innovation Resident Center, and Jeonggok-myeon Chat Room, as well as the expanded implementation of a shared student return taxi service for students living in public transportation blind spots, received positive evaluations.
County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “It seems that providing customized policy services that understand the needs of local residents was well received,” and added, “We will further discover and provide convenient shared resources that innovate the local community and that residents can tangibly feel.”
