North Korea Responds to Japan's 'Preemptive Strike' Adoption with "Will Show Through Actions"
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson's Statement... "Formalizing Invasion Policy... Bringing Severe Security Crisis"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] On the 20th, North Korea reacted strongly against Japan's adoption of a security strategy to secure the capability for counterattacks on enemy bases, calling it an "official declaration of an invasion policy."
In a spokesperson's statement released to the Korean Central News Agency on the same day, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "By adopting a new security strategy that effectively formalizes the possession of preemptive strike capabilities against other countries, Japan is bringing a severe security crisis to the Korean Peninsula and the East Asian region."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued, "The so-called 'counterattack capability' claimed by Japan has nothing to do with a sovereign nation's legitimate right to self-defense and is thoroughly a preemptive strike capability aimed at attacking other countries' territories." It further claimed, "With Japan's official declaration of a new invasion policy, the security environment in East Asia has fundamentally changed."
The Ministry continued, "We will continue to demonstrate through practical actions how much the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) is concerned and displeased with Japan's unjust and greedy ambitions." It threatened, "Japan will clearly realize through the shuddering tremors it will feel from the United States that it has made a wrong and extremely dangerous choice."
Additionally, it asserted, "North Korea once again clearly states that it holds the right to take bold and decisive military measures to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and fundamental interests in preparation for the complexity of the regional security environment caused by Japan's negative actions, which we sternly criticize and condemn."
The Ministry emphasized, "Japan's foolish behavior of trying to fill the black ship of re-invasion military buildup under the pretext of exercising our nation's legitimate right to self-defense can never be justified or tolerated."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also turned its arrows toward the United States, using it as a pretext to justify efforts to strengthen defense capabilities. The Ministry claimed that the United States "is covering and encouraging Japan's rearmament and re-invasion attempts while claiming it is exercising its own right to self-defense, and because of this, it is striving to unconditionally complete the top five priority tasks in the strategic weapons sector."
