KT Focuses on Communication Service Management for Year-End and New Year Period
A KT network expert is inspecting a base station in a busy district expected to attract large crowds.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT announced on the 20th that it will operate a network intensive management system from the 20th of this month to January 9th of next year in preparation for Christmas and the year-end and New Year holidays, when telecommunications service usage surges.
KT has implemented special response measures to provide stable service to customers during the network intensive management period. In addition, an emergency recovery temporary task force (TF) will be operated with intensive monitoring, with about 2,000 KT network experts working daily on average.
KT designated about 100 locations nationwide, including the area near the Shinsegae Department Store main branch in Myeongdong, Seoul, where crowds gather, as special management areas, completing the expansion of wireless communication base stations and pre-service quality optimization work.

Meanwhile, KT plans to strengthen real-time monitoring and response systems against DDoS attacks in preparation for cyberattacks targeting the year-end and New Year holidays, and to intensify blocking operations and real-time monitoring of cyber fraud activities such as smishing messages and voice phishing impersonating Christmas gifts and New Year greetings, to minimize customer damage.
