Prosecutors Demand Life Sentence for Male Student Accused in Inha University Sexual Assault and Fall Death Case
Prosecution "Considering the Seriousness of the Matter and the Circumstances of the Incident"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The prosecution has demanded a life sentence for a male student accused of killing a female student of the same age by pushing her off a building on the Inha University campus while attempting to sexually assault her.
On the 19th, at the sentencing hearing held by the 12th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court, the prosecution requested the court to sentence 20-year-old Inha University student Kim Mo, who was detained and indicted on charges of quasi-rape murder, to life imprisonment. The prosecution explained the reason for the demand, stating, "We considered the seriousness of the case and the circumstances of the incident."
Kim is accused of sexually assaulting the victim, who was in a state of helplessness, and causing her death by pushing her off the 5th-floor building of a college within Inha University in Incheon on July 15. After the female student fell from the corridor window between buildings to the first floor, Kim is said to have discarded her clothes in another location and fled to his rented room. He was arrested by the police later that afternoon.
Previously, the police had applied the charge of quasi-rape causing death, which is used when intent to murder is not recognized, and sent Kim to the prosecution. However, the prosecution changed the charge to rape murder and brought the case to trial.
The prosecution argued that Kim was aware of the danger when the unconscious victim fell out of the window frame but pushed her off anyway and left the scene without providing any aid.
