Presidential Office to "Fully Cooperate" with Board of Audit and Inspection's Decision to Audit Presidential Office Relocation
Board of Audit and Inspection, Corruption and Abuse of Power Audit in the Process of Presidential Office Relocation
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The Presidential Office announced on the 19th that it will "cooperate to the fullest extent" regarding the Board of Audit and Inspection's decision to audit the process of relocating the Presidential Office. The audit targets allegations such as abuse of authority and preferential treatment in construction that arose during the relocation process in October.
On the same day, a Presidential Office official met with reporters at the Yongsan Presidential Office and stated, "The Board of Audit and Inspection is an independent constitutional institution, so it is inappropriate to comment on its decisions. However, since this is a matter decided by the Board and the audit will proceed, we plan to cooperate to the fullest extent."
According to People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, the Board of Audit and Inspection held a National Audit Request Review Committee meeting on the 14th and decided to partially conduct a national audit requested by People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and citizens. Previously, People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy had requested a national audit from the Board of Audit and Inspection to investigate allegations of abuse of authority, preferential treatment in construction, and financial waste related to the relocation of the Presidential Office.
Among these, the Board of Audit and Inspection is known to have decided to audit ▲ corruption such as abuse of authority in the decision-making process ▲ and possible violations of the State Contract Act in the construction contract process. People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy also stated in a press release that it will "thoroughly monitor the audit process of the Board of Audit and Inspection."
