North Korea Fires Two Ballistic Missiles into East Sea... JCS "Maintaining Readiness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Yuri] On the 18th, North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the East Sea. This marks the resumption of provocations one month after the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch on the 15th of last month.
On the same day, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the East Sea from the Dongchang-ri area in North Pyongan Province between approximately 11:13 AM and 12:05 PM. The military is analyzing parameters such as flight distance, altitude, and speed.
The missiles launched by North Korea on this day reportedly showed trajectories similar to those of medium-range ballistic missiles (MRBM), which have longer flight distances than short-range ballistic missiles (SRBM).
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated, "Our military is maintaining full readiness while strengthening surveillance and vigilance, closely cooperating with the United States."
This provocation came just two days after the announcement on the 16th that a high-power rocket engine test, believed to be for a solid-fuel ICBM, was successfully conducted at the West Sea Satellite Launching Station under the observation of Chairman Kim Jong-un on the 15th.
The ballistic missile launch on this day is analyzed as a response to the United Nations adopting the North Korean human rights resolution for the 18th consecutive year and Japan adopting a security strategy to secure counterattack capabilities against enemy bases.
