[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 18th that it has signed a contract to supply vehicles for people with disabilities with the General Authority for Social Solidarity Fund, an institution under the Ministry of Social Welfare of Libya.
Through this contract, Hyundai will supply 3,000 Venue vehicles by the first half of 2023 for people with disabilities affected by the Libyan civil war. The General Authority for Social Solidarity Fund is a public fund management institution established to support the welfare of socially vulnerable groups and people with disabilities suffering from the Libyan civil war. It operates a vehicle purchase support program for people with disabilities affected by the civil war, providing 50% of the vehicle purchase cost.
Vehicles supplied for people with disabilities will be equipped with ▲ hand controllers that operate the accelerator or brake pedals by hand instead of the legs for those with lower limb disabilities ▲ steering devices for drivers who need to operate the steering wheel with one hand.
Im Hyung-jung, Head of Hyundai Motor's Asia Middle East and Africa Division, stated, “Through the partnership with the Libyan government, we will continue to strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy the freedom of mobility regardless of disability.”
