Macau Eases Quarantine Rules for Arrivals...Switches from Facility Quarantine to Self-Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The Macau government has adjusted the facility quarantine applied to overseas arrivals to self-quarantine.
Macau health authorities announced on the 16th that the quarantine regulation for overseas arrivals (5 days of facility quarantine + 3 days of self-quarantine) will be changed to 5 days of self-quarantine starting from 0:00 on the 17th.
However, it was explained that after 5 days of self-quarantine, individuals are not allowed to leave Macau for 3 days. This is interpreted as a measure to prevent entering China via Macau in order to shorten the quarantine period.
The health authorities stated that those entering Macau need a negative PCR test certificate taken within 48 hours before entry and an adequate amount of rapid antigen test kits.
