6 University Student Group Members Arrested for Unauthorized Entry into People Power Party Headquarters
Arrested in Flagrante Delicto for Trespassing and Refusal to Leave Premises
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Members of the Korean University Students Progressive Union were arrested by police on the 16th after staging a surprise protest at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that around 1 p.m. that day, six members of the Progressive Union who entered the People Power Party headquarters were arrested on the spot for trespassing and refusal to leave. They were caught after entering the headquarters demanding a meeting with Chung Jin-seok, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party.

Meanwhile, earlier that morning, the University Students Progressive Union issued a statement via social media (SNS) calling for the dissolution of the People Power Party, accusing it of obstructing the investigation into the Itaewon tragedy through various abusive remarks and interference with the state audit.
