Gochang-gun Selected as 'Best Institution' in Local Price Stability Management Evaluation

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, was selected as the best institution in the 2022 Local Price Stability Management Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

According to the county on the 16th, at the ‘Financial Incentive (Special Grant)’ award ceremony for the best local governments in local price stability management held at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety annex auditorium in Sejong City the day before, it won the grand prize and received a financial incentive of 100 million won.

The government evaluated 243 local governments by reflecting the performance of local public utility fees and personal service fee stability management, special policy implementation, etc., to efficiently promote price stabilization measures.

The county was highly evaluated in the field of local public utility fee stability management directly related to the livelihood of the common people and has continuously maintained the freeze on local public utility fees such as water and sewage fees and garbage bags.

In particular, for water and sewage fees, a 60% reduction was promoted to ease the burden on small business owners suffering economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, supporting fees worth about 210 million won during the evaluation period.

In addition, promotional activities such as private cooperation campaigns with the traditional market merchants' association and the Gochang Economic Revival Women's Association were conducted to monitor price trends on-site and create an atmosphere of price stability.

To reduce dining expenses, 26 Good Price Businesses were designated, and support worth about 6 million won, including water and sewage fees and consumables support, was provided to support solid operation.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “This selection as the best institution in price stability management is an achievement made after 8 years and was possible thanks to the active cooperation of the residents,” and added, “We will continuously promote stable price policies worthy of being the best nationwide and contribute to economic revitalization.”
