Gyeonggi-do to Implement 'Hometown Love Donation System' Next Year... Call for Suppliers of 31 Return Gifts
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has selected 31 types of return gifts for the 'Hometown Love Donation System,' which will be implemented from January 1 next year, and has started recruiting suppliers.
The Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their place of residence. The local governments use the donation funds to create a hometown love fund, which can be used to support vulnerable groups, youth support, and improve residents' welfare. Individuals can donate up to 5 million KRW annually. They can receive return gifts such as local specialties within 30% of the donation amount. Additionally, donations under 100,000 KRW are fully tax-deductible. For the excess amount, a 16.5% deduction is available.
The main return gift items include agricultural and livestock products mainly produced in Gyeonggi Province such as rice, pears, grapes, apples, ginseng, pine nuts, sweet potatoes, peanuts, tomatoes, soybeans, peaches, Korean melons, strawberries, mushrooms, beef, pork, flowers, honey (including pollen, propolis, royal jelly), as well as processed products like traditional liquor, processed seaweed products, processed ginseng products, nuts, fruit and vegetable juices, processed grain products, sauces, and oils.
Additionally, the province included agricultural product bundles composed of excellent Gyeonggi agricultural products and certified quality Gyeonggi organic products and ceramics for high-value donors. Notably, budaejjigae meal kits from Uijeongbu, where a tourism-themed alley is formed, were also selected as return gifts.
Earlier, on the 13th, the province held a return gift selection committee meeting to establish criteria for selecting return gift items and evaluating suppliers.
