Gogyeongae, Chairman of Gwangju Seo-gu Council, Honored with Mudeung Legislative Award

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Ko Kyung-ae, Chairperson of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, received the 'Grand Prize' in the legislative field just five months after the launch of the 9th Seo-gu Council's first half.

At the 6th Mudeung Legislative Awards ceremony jointly hosted by the Korean Governance Society and Mudeung Ilbo, Seo-gu in Gwangju and Gurye in Jeollanam-do were honored with awards, with Chairperson Ko being the only chairperson to receive the award.

Chairperson Ko was recognized for her active legislative activities during her tenure in the 8th Seo-gu Council, including the enactment and revision of over 20 ordinances and regulations and the deliberation and resolution of more than 30 general agenda items.

Representative legislative activities include ▲signature campaigns and press conferences for improving the water quality of Pungam Lake ▲solving safety issues related to electric kickboards ▲establishing regulations for the conversion to national and public daycare centers ▲promotion of the sewage pipeline project.

In addition, she was evaluated as having actively engaged in legislative activities by quickly responding to social changes through the enactment and revision of ordinances such as ▲support for recyclable material collectors ▲installation of quality inspection teams for apartment complexes ▲support for reasonably priced businesses ▲safety environment support for vulnerable groups ▲basic resource circulation ordinances.

On the 15th, Chairperson Ko said, “I dedicate the honor of the legislative award to the 290,000 Seo-gu residents who have shared concerns and communicated with me on site,” adding, “I will fulfill my duties and responsibilities as chairperson to make the Gwangju Seo-gu Council more trusted and loved by reflecting on the precious values of communication and cooperation.”
