[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] "Try going to the beach once. If no one cleans up, the trash keeps piling up, and the sea keeps getting dirtier" (Kim Dana, student at Shingwang Elementary School)
On the 2nd, Hyundai Motor Group posted a storytelling video narration on its YouTube channel and Facebook to support the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
At first glance, it may seem unrelated to the Busan World Expo, but the video shows real stories of children solving everyday problems with imagination for a better Earth. It naturally connects this to the theme of the Busan World Expo, which pursues a sustainable future for humanity, gaining empathy across all generations.
With the onsite inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which oversees the selection of the 2030 World Expo host city, just over four months away, and with the domestic bid enthusiasm and global support becoming more urgent, the video has gained high popularity, surpassing 5.5 million views as of the 14th. This was achieved just 13 days after posting.
In particular, of the total 5.5 million views, as many as 3.6 million are from overseas, showing strong response abroad as well, contributing to securing a global consensus and positive image for the Busan World Expo bid.
The Hyundai Motor Group’s support video, which has become a hot topic, focuses less on the economic effects of hosting a large-scale international event and more on showing the process of future generations using imagination to solve everyday problems they face at school and elsewhere. It conveys the message that they hope the World Expo, a stage for imagination, will be held in Busan so these children can continue to unleash their infinite potential.
Through this future generation storytelling, Hyundai Motor Group has focused on gaining empathy across all generations beyond economic and business stakeholders related to hosting the World Expo, and to gain global support and empathy, it also provides English subtitles.
