Cooperation Merits with the National Library of Korea... Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendations Awarded to 35 Organizations and Individuals

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Library of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded 35 commendations and certificates, including the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation, to individuals and organizations who contributed to library development and improvement of user services this year. The award ceremony was held on the 13th at the library's international conference hall.
In the 'Public Library Cooperation Merit' category, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation (5 awards) and the National Library of Korea Director's Commendation (10 awards) were given to individuals and organizations who contributed to various cooperative projects of libraries. In the individual category, Lee Myung-hee, a librarian at Wonju City Central Library, received the Minister's Commendation for her efforts in planning and operating reading promotion programs linked with local universities, school libraries, and public libraries. In the organization category, Incheon Metropolitan City Subong Library was highly praised for specializing in cooperative programs for the elderly and received the Minister's Commendation. Additionally, Incheon Metropolitan City Subong Library, Ulsan Dongbu Library, and Wanju County Central Library received the Minister's Commendation.
In the 'Open Access Korea (OAK) Meritorious Institutions' category, the National Library of Korea selected the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service and the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management for their leadership in sharing knowledge information resources and contributing to the spread of open access.
In the 'Ask a Librarian Merit' category for cooperative online knowledge information services, Seoul Library, which participated most actively over the past three years, received the Minister's Commendation.
In the 'Library Big Data Excellent Utilization Institution Awards,' in the library operation category, Dapsimni Library in Dongdaemun-gu received the Minister's Award for operating a metaverse library and 3D creative convergence classrooms using library big data. In the service development category, Flybook Co., Ltd. was selected for the Minister's Award for actively utilizing the Library Information Naru Open API to develop a reading SNS and AI book recommendation system.
Also, in the 'Library Big Data Cooperation Institutions' category, four public libraries including Dogok Information and Culture Library, which excelled in library data collection and opening performance and contributed to data quality improvement, received the National Library of Korea Director's Commendation.
In the 'Library Innovation Ideas and Excellent Field Cases Contest' category, Youngjin College Library, which planned and operated a reading activity program combining gamification elements suitable for the metaverse environment (Grand Prize), Seocheon Library, which increased library usage among local children and youth through a library membership card creation project (Excellence Award), and Paju City Entrusted Library, which planned and operated an information utilization education program using the metaverse platform Zepeto (Excellence Award), were selected for the Minister's Award.
In the 'Book Connection Service Excellent Institution Awards' category, Mapo Central Library, Pangyo Library, and Gyeongnam Representative Library, which contributed to the activation of the Book Connection Service through member expansion, increased book usage performance, and promotion using the latest technologies (such as metaverse), were selected for the National Library of Korea Director's Award.
