The briefing session was organized to provide a detailed explanation of the project for attracting the Dumusang Pumped Storage Power Plant and to specifically address residents' concerns about environmental damage. It aimed to dispel misunderstandings through accurate information delivery and to facilitate communication with the residents.
The Dumusang Pumped Storage Power Plant planned by Hapcheon-gun is a large-scale national project with a total project cost of about 1 trillion KRW, located in the Sanje-ri area of Myosan-myeon, covering approximately 600,000 pyeong (1,983,470㎡), and is a 400MW-class clean energy pumped storage power plant.
The county stated that if the pumped storage power plant is actually attracted, about 7,000 jobs will be created during the construction period, and after construction, about 120 jobs will be created including the power plant headquarters staff and partner company personnel.
In addition, linked with the ongoing 9 billion KRW Dumusang Natural Recreation Forest Development Project, new tourism infrastructure will be developed. According to the 'Act on Support for Areas Surrounding Power Plants,' benefits such as income increase projects, public social welfare projects, and resident welfare support projects will be provided to local residents, which is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy and increasing local tax revenue.
County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, "Currently, Hapcheon-gun is bearing the dishonor of being evaluated as a region at risk of disappearance in 30 years among local governments nationwide due to population decline and aging. Amid this regional extinction crisis, attracting the Dumusang Pumped Storage Power Plant is a golden opportunity to overcome the crisis and develop our county and Myosan-myeon into a vibrant area once again."

He added, "There can be no change without the participation and consent of local residents, and the change and future development of Myosan-myeon ultimately depend on the participation of the residents. I ask all residents to unite with one heart and actively participate in the successful attraction of the Dumusang Pumped Storage Power Plant."
