Chairman Kim Hyun-ki of the Seoul Metropolitan Council attended the '2022 Seoul Tourism Day' event held on the 12th, announcing the launch of the 'Special Committee for Tourism Industry Development' within the council to lead support for Seoul's tourism industry, which has been stagnated due to COVID-19.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Hyun-ki, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, attended the '2022 Seoul Tourism Day' event held on the 12th and stated that the council will take the lead in supporting Seoul's tourism industry, which has been stagnated due to COVID-19.
In his congratulatory speech, Chairperson Kim said, “The Seoul Metropolitan Council launched the ‘Special Committee for the Development of the Tourism Industry of Seoul Metropolitan Council’ last November. We will establish a public-private cooperation governance with organizations such as the Seoul Tourism Association to explore practical methods for the development of Seoul tourism. We will also prepare cooperation plans with other city and provincial councils to actively support the tourism industry in Seoul to make a leap forward.”
He continued, “The important thing is an unyielding spirit,” and encouraged, “I express my gratitude and respect to the tourism professionals who have protected the tourism industry during difficult times, and I ask you to continue to practice an unyielding spirit on the ground.”
The 2022 Seoul Tourism Day event included the Seoul Tourism Awards ceremony, commemorative performances, and congratulatory performances. About 300 people attended, including Chairperson Kim Hyun-ki, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Lee Jong-hwan, Chairperson of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, and tourism professionals.
