View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] On the 13th, Shin Hyun-guk, Mayor of Mungyeong City, Gyeongbuk, received the ‘Mokmingwan Contribution Award’ at the 5th Korea’s 13 Distinguished Figures Awards Ceremony.
The ‘13 Distinguished Figures Award’ is presented by the International Journalists Club and the Seoul Economic Federation to individuals who have elevated the status and national prestige of Korea in various fields such as domestic and international politics, economy, local administration, culture and arts, and sports. This year, 16 recipients in 13 categories, including Mayor Shin Hyun-guk of Mungyeong City, Yoon Sang-hyun, member of the People Power Party (Incheon Dong-gu Michuhol-gu), and Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Wonju City Council, received the awards.
Mayor Shin was selected as a recipient due to his significant contributions in attracting institutions such as the Armed Forces Athletic Corps, Seoul National University Hospital Talent Center, Soongsil University Training Center, STX Mungyeong Resort, and Global Seonjin School Mungyeong Campus, thereby helping to establish Mungyeong as a central city for culture, tourism, sports, education, and training.
Mayor Shin expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am very pleased to receive the 5th Korea’s 13 Distinguished Figures Award. With the power of positivity that never gives up even a 1% possibility, I will focus all administrative efforts on the development of Mungyeong and do my best to make Mungyeong a happy city for its citizens.”

Mayor Shin previously served as the Director of the Daegu Regional Environmental Office and the Gyeongin Regional Environmental Office, and is currently serving his third term as Mayor of Mungyeong.
