The test flight conducted on the 18th of last month in Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province was carried out entirely by Kyochon and the startup Pablo Aviation, from order to delivery.
Orders were placed through ‘ALLIVERY,’ a dedicated ordering app operated by Pablo Aviation. The chicken prepared at the Kyochon Chicken Cheongpyeong branch was placed in the drone delivery box and successfully completed a 7km beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight along a pre-set route to a pension in the Gapyeong area, the delivery destination.
The drone used for the test flight was manufactured by Pablo Aviation, with a maximum payload capacity of 5kg and a flight time within 40 minutes. It uses a triple multi-design communication module integrating RF communication, LTE, and satellite communication, equipped with a system to prevent communication loss during flight, as well as various safety devices.
A Kyochon F&B official said, “This test flight was a flight that confirmed the advantages and potential of drone delivery,” adding, “We will continue various research and attempts for the commercialization of drone delivery.”
