HMM, Listed Company ESG Rating A Grade
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] HMM announced on the 8th that it received an overall A grade in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation and rating for listed companies published by the Korea ESG Standards Institute. This marks the third consecutive year since 2020. The ESG Standards Institute, under the Korea Exchange, evaluated 974 companies this year. It is reported that many companies saw their ratings drop due to the higher evaluation standards this year. HMM received an A+ grade in the environmental category, placing it within the top 1%. After reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships by 57% last year compared to 2008, the company has committed to a 70% reduction by 2030. The company stated, "This is the result of our efforts to respond to climate change and promote eco-friendly logistics in line with global standards."
