Ulsan City Wins Presidential Award for 'Top Metropolitan Environmental Management Evaluation'... Dong-gu Ranks 1st Among Districts, Jung-gu and Nam-gu 2nd
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City ranked first nationwide in the 2022 Local Government Environmental Management Performance Evaluation.
Ulsan City announced that it was selected as the top metropolitan city among 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, 228 cities, counties, and districts, and 6 free economic zone authorities nationwide, based on the Ministry of Environment's evaluation of environmental management performance.
The local government environmental management performance evaluation has been conducted annually by the Ministry of Environment since 2003 to encourage autonomous environmental management of emission facilities through competition among local governments.
This year, the evaluation covered three areas: △ Environmental management of emission facilities (inspection and guidance rate, violation detection rate of emission facilities, pollution inspection rate) △ Management and supervision of delegated tasks (training of enforcement personnel, environmental management promotion, appropriateness of inspection plan establishment and implementation) △ Collaborative management of emission facilities (management of self-inspection facilities, environmental monitoring network).
Following Ulsan City, Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk ranked second and third, respectively.
Basic local governments were evaluated in groups 1 to 5 according to the number of emission facilities subject to inspection.
Among the five districts and counties of Ulsan City, Dong-gu ranked first in Group 1 (50 or fewer emission facilities), Jung-gu ranked second, and Nam-gu ranked second in Group 2 (51 to 100 emission facilities).
Ulsan City received the Presidential Citation, Dong-gu received the Ministry of Environment Institutional Citation, and Jung-gu and Nam-gu received the Ministry of Environment Citation for public officials who contributed to environmental management of emission facilities.
