Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Provides Emergency Support to Wando Schools Amid 'Severe Drought'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to provide emergency funds to frontline schools in Wando that are struggling due to severe drought.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 5th, Superintendent Kim Dae-jung visited the Wando Office of Education on the 30th of last month and promised to support contingency funds for drought measures, including 200 million won for purchasing bottled water and additional installation costs for water storage tanks for daily use.
The contingency funds will be used to purchase bottled water with a budget of 85 million won and install additional water tanks with a budget of 110 million won for schools in the restricted water supply areas of Wando County: Nohwa, Geumil, Soan, Bogil, Gogeum, and Yaksan.
The Office of Education requested cooperation from the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters and Wando Fire Station to supply daily water and also provided guidance to allow adjustment of school meal menus in preparation for shortages of water for school meals due to restricted water supply.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung said, “I hope that budget support to resolve drought damage will reduce inconveniences at schools,” and urged, “We will provide generous support to minimize drought damage and actively participate in water-saving campaign activities.”
