"Future Car Technologies Embedded in Wheels and Pillars" Hyundai Mobis Unveils at CES
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Mobis announced on the 5th that it will showcase technologies and systems related to future mobility, including autonomous driving and electrification, at CES 2023 to be held in the United States next month.
The company has prepared the largest exhibition space among all the CES events it has participated in so far. The core content includes the new concept purpose-built vehicles (PBV), M.Vision TO and HI. The M.Vision TO is an autonomous vehicle based on an electrification system, equipped with new technologies such as cameras, radar, lidar sensors on the front and rear pillars, e-corner modules, and mixed reality (MR) displays.
The e-corner module is a new technology that integrates steering, suspension, and drive systems into a single wheel. Vehicle pillars, which have traditionally been used mainly as structural supports for the body, now incorporate various advanced functions. Inside the vehicle, there are seats that can fold or rotate.
The M.Vision HI is a PBV designed for leisure and outdoor use. The vehicle glass is used as a large display, allowing activities such as watching movies. A remote control technology that uses gaze as a computer mouse has been applied. Additionally, a 32-inch extra-large display that moves up and down, called a swivel display, and a new concept rear suspension suitable for electric vehicles and PBVs have been introduced. This technology received the CES 2023 Innovation Award.
Other new technologies to be introduced include a future cockpit integrated solution with a pop-out steering wheel, LED grill lighting that can display charging status, and a holographic augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), totaling 19 new technologies.
Hyundai Mobis President Cho Sung-hwan and the head of the R&D division, along with other company executives, will give a presentation on future mobility response and carbon neutrality on the 5th of next month (local time) to coincide with the opening of the event. During the event, a dedicated HR zone will be operated to recruit overseas talent.
