[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, mentioned the current party leadership candidates and said, "None of them satisfy (the party members)."
On the 3rd, Floor Leader Joo spoke about the conditions for the next party leader at the 'Asia Forum 21' discussion meeting for Daegu and Gyeongbuk journalists held at Daegu Suseong University, stating this view.
He cited the first condition for the party leader, saying, "In the Democratic Party of Korea, except for leader Lee Jae-myung, all the Supreme Council members are from the Seoul metropolitan area, and since half of the parliamentary constituencies are in the metropolitan area, the leader must be someone who can handle the metropolitan area." He added, "The leader should be popular among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) and must conduct nominations stably without being swayed."
He then mentioned the names of former leader Hwang Kyo-ahn and lawmakers Kim Ki-hyun, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Cho Kyung-tae, who have expressed intentions to run for party leadership, and said, "The concern among party members is that there is no one who has the confidence to win the general election."
Regarding the party convention schedule, Floor Leader Joo said, "Whether to hold the party convention by March 12 (next year) and select the party leader from the mentioned candidates, or to find a new person later, even if delayed, as President Yoon Seok-yeol won the presidential election without being in politics, this issue has not been settled yet."

Meanwhile, he pointed out problems with the opposition party's claims about the current political situation. Floor Leader Joo stated, "The Democratic Party is demanding cuts to all the budgets that the new government is determined to implement." He raised his voice, saying, "Compromise requires give and take, but compromise is difficult. Among the innovative projects the new government wants to pursue, they (the Democratic Party) are even insisting on cutting budgets for things they themselves pledged in their presidential campaign."
