The public hearing will be held online from 4 p.m. via the Korea Women's Policy Institute's YouTube channel.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has been establishing the basic plan for gender equality policy every five years in accordance with Article 7 of the 'Framework Act on Gender Equality.' Since March, it has prepared the '3rd Basic Plan for Gender Equality Policy (draft)' through advisory meetings with experts from various fields and meetings of the gender equality policy officers' consultative body in collaboration with the Korea Women's Policy Institute.
The 3rd Basic Plan for Gender Equality Policy sets three main goals under the vision of "Warm companionship, a gender-equal society where everyone is happy": ▲ Creating an environment for working and caregiving together ▲ Promoting safety and health rights ▲ Expanding the foundation for gender equality.
Key tasks include ▲ Preparing a phased introduction plan for the gender-based labor disclosure system ▲ Establishing application measures for parental leave systems in line with the expansion of employment insurance coverage ▲ Strengthening workforce development and employment linkage in new industries and new technologies ▲ Expanding and improving the quality of elementary school after-school care classrooms.
Additionally, the plan aims to strengthen the integrated support system for victims of five major types of violence, enhance responses to sexual harassment and sexual violence incidents in the public sector and prevent recurrence, and reinforce the functions of the Gender Equality Committee as major tasks.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family plans to finalize and announce the '3rd Basic Plan for Gender Equality Policy' within this month after comprehensively reviewing opinions collected through the public hearing and other channels and undergoing deliberation by the Gender Equality Committee.
