Professor Bae was recognized for his 16 years of contributions in the field of fostering and promoting stroke prevention, treatment, and management. The Government Awards for Contributions to Health and Medical Technology Promotion honor individuals who have contributed to the advancement of health and medical technology in South Korea in four categories: ▲New Research ▲Excellent Research ▲Excellent Development ▲Fostering and Promotion.
Professor Bae served as the corresponding author and a key researcher of the NIH-CRCS-K, the largest domestic multi-center stroke cohort study in the world, collecting and analyzing stroke patient data. Based on this, he contributed to improving public health through stroke prevention, treatment, and management. This study is applicable to overseas patients as well and is regarded as a guideline for stroke treatment worldwide.
Additionally, Professor Bae published a stroke epidemiology report that integrates diverse and reliable epidemiological data related to stroke. This report has been actively used as basic data for national policy decisions and clinical research on stroke, and since its publication in the SCIE journal 'Journal of Stroke' in January 2019, it has been cited 133 times as of July this year.
Furthermore, as the head of the Central Support Group for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Management, he developed a cerebrovascular disease screening algorithm and applied it to the National Health Insurance Service database. Through this, he revealed the prevalence and incidence rates of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in South Korea and contributed to identifying issues related to stroke care and making health policy decisions.
