Jeonnam Province Identifies 2,988 Households at Risk and Provides Prompt Support
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 27th that it conducted a joint public-private investigation and identified 2,988 welfare crisis households, providing them with customized services.
This comprehensive survey was carried out targeting 11,028 households, including those identified through the welfare blind spot detection system’s crisis information recipients, self-identified households by city and county, and households with lost contact, with participation from public-private sectors such as the visiting health and welfare teams of eup, myeon, and dong, community leaders (i-tongjang), community social security councils, and women’s associations.
As a result of welfare consultations through the comprehensive survey, 2,988 households facing crisis situations such as illness, unemployment, and family breakdown received tailored services including ▲application for customized welfare benefits and emergency welfare ▲support from the welfare task force’s living stabilization funds ▲integrated case management support ▲linkage to private resources ▲and provision of daily necessities.
Among the households at risk, 1,626 households with complex cases involving health, housing, and economic issues requiring continuous assistance are being managed post-survey by designated managers including public officials, community leaders (i-tongjang), and life managers.
Additionally, Jeonnam Province is conducting a visit survey of 1,989 individuals whose registered residence and actual residence do not match, in parallel with the 2022 resident registration fact-finding survey until the end of the year.
To prevent incidents like the ‘Suwon Three Mothers Case,’ where victims suffered from illness and financial hardship without receiving state support before passing away in August, the province plans to carefully monitor welfare blind spots.
Woo Hongseop, Director of the Social Welfare Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, “We will actively respond to crises through continuous follow-up management for households classified as at-risk through this joint public-private comprehensive survey. We will do our best to establish a constant crisis response system to detect crisis households early and ensure they receive necessary customized services.”
