[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 23rd, "Kenya is a gateway to East Africa and a logistics hub, and one of Africa's key partner countries where many of our major companies have entered."
President Yoon held a summit meeting with William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon, stating, "Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1964, Kenya has been a traditional ally that has maintained a long-standing friendly relationship with our country under the banner of liberal democracy."
He added, "I hope that exchanges and cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened through today's summit," and "I look forward to in-depth discussions on cooperation measures in various fields."
President Yoon congratulated President Ruto on his inauguration and said, "Thank you for choosing Korea as your first visit in Asia."
President Ruto expressed his gratitude for President Yoon's hospitality through an interpreter, emphasizing, "We do not take the genuine friendship and brotherhood shown by Korea for granted."
He continued, "The two countries have maintained a historic bond based on common values and principles, including multilateralism," and explained, "This is also evident in the fact that both countries have maintained resident embassies without any issues."
