Hampyeong-gun Hosts the 1st Disabled Families Unity Festival
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 22nd, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 23rd that it held the '1st Disabled Family One Mind Festival' at the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center.
This event was hosted by Hampyeong-gun and jointly organized by three local disabled organizations (physical disability, hearing impairment, visual impairment) to promote communication and harmony between disabled and non-disabled people.
About 600 people attended the event, including Lee Sang-ik, the mayor of Hampyeong-gun, Yoon Aeng-rang, chairman of the Hampyeong County Council, Lee Yong-gwan, chief of Hampyeong Police Station, local disabled people and their families, and volunteers.
The event proceeded in the order of Part 1 congratulatory performance, Part 2 opening ceremony, commendation for exemplary disabled persons, congratulatory speeches, and Part 3 singing contest and One Mind Festival.
Also, at the event, commendations for exemplary disabled persons were awarded to 11 meritorious individuals who overcame disabilities, led neighborly love, and became role models in the local community.
Park Jong-gwan, representative of the disabled organizations, said, "I hope this festival became an opportunity for disabled and non-disabled people to understand, empathize, and communicate with each other."
