Beauty Platform Hwahae Announces Winners of the '2022 Hwahae Beauty Awards'
Establishment of New Functional Cosmetics Award Category
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Mobile beauty platform Hwahae selected and announced on the 23rd the '2022 Hwahae Beauty Awards' winning products, which were the most loved on the Hwahae app this year.
Now in its 8th year, the Hwahae Beauty Awards is the largest cosmetics awards ceremony in Korea, announcing the most popular and new products of the year based on honest reviews from ten million Hwahae customers.
This year's awards consisted of five categories: the ‘2022 Overall Awards’ selecting winners (1st to 3rd place products) by category, ‘Best New Products of the Second Half’, ‘Functional Cosmetics Awards’, ‘Trend Awards (Vegan)’, and the ‘Hall of Fame’.
In particular, Hwahae paid attention to the functional cosmetics market, which showed an average annual growth rate of 24% despite the global recession, and newly established the ‘Functional Cosmetics’ category for this award. Hwahae shortlisted candidates based on the highest consumer ratings according to the functional cosmetics criteria classified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), including ▲whitening ▲wrinkle improvement ▲acne relief ▲hair loss relief.
Among these, functional cosmetics containing MFDS-notified ingredients such as niacinamide and alpha-bisabolol for whitening effects, and retinol and adenosine for wrinkle improvement were selected as the final award-winning products. A total of 37 products were selected, including Nature Republic’s 'Vitapair C 7-Day Whitening Mask Sheet', Missha’s 'Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule Balm Stick', and COSRX’s 'The Retinol 0.1 Cream'.
