Gwangju Dong-gu Council Appeals to Citizens for Water Conservation Practice
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The members of the Dong-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced a public appeal urging citizens to actively practice water conservation in response to the depletion crisis of Dongbok Dam caused by an unprecedented prolonged drought, the council revealed on the 23rd.
The Dong-gu council members stated, "We are currently facing a severe water shortage crisis, and active water-saving efforts are urgently needed," adding, "Please minimize water use in daily life by reducing water pressure at valves and using a rinsing cup for brushing teeth."
Chairman Kim Jae-sik said, "If water consumption does not decrease amid this extreme drought, water supply restrictions will be inevitable, and the worst-case scenario could lead to a complete water outage," emphasizing, "Please deeply recognize the seriousness of the current situation and actively participate in water conservation by minimizing water use in daily life through small practices."
Meanwhile, the Dong-gu Council opened the 297th 2nd regular session on the 22nd, entering a 23-day schedule until the 14th of next month.
During this regular session, the council plans to conduct an 8-day administrative audit of the executive branch and review and approve the 2023 budget.

Additionally, the council will review a total of 15 ordinances, including the ordinance on fostering and supporting small and medium-sized enterprise cooperatives in Dong-gu proposed by Councilor Moon Seon-hwa, as well as ordinances submitted by the Dong-gu Office chief.
