[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] LiDAR-based autonomous driving solution specialist ViewRun Technology announced on the 22nd that it will promote an autonomous eco-friendly delivery demonstration project together with cold chain specialist TeamFresh. This is the first time in Korea that fresh food ingredients are delivered using autonomous trucks in the cold chain industry.
Founded in 2019, ViewRun Technology attracted seed investment from Naver D2SF (D2 Startup Factory) in its early days, and in January successfully raised 10 billion KRW in pre-A funding from Daesung Venture Investment, KDB Industrial Bank, and others. Currently, it has gained significant attention by achieving stable autonomous driving in both the US and Korea using only one LiDAR sensor, and is actively expanding its business domestically and internationally. TeamFresh, which will collaborate with ViewRun Technology on the eco-friendly autonomous delivery business, leads the industry with over 90% market share in dawn delivery of cold chain products centered in the metropolitan area.
The two companies plan to jointly operate an eco-friendly fresh food delivery service using electric trucks equipped with ViewRun Technology’s LiDAR-based autonomous driving solution. TeamFresh will provide delivery management systems and fresh food logistics volume, while ViewRun Technology will safely transport fresh food ingredients from TeamFresh’s logistics centers to local stores using its self-developed autonomous electric trucks. The project will be further advanced by utilizing the high-definition maps (HD MAP) developed by Naver Labs.
Development of ViewRun Technology’s autonomous driving solution using electric trucks is already in its final stages, and starting from January next year, a pilot project will be launched mainly in the Pangyo area using TeamFresh’s delivery management system.
