Dried persimmons are being dried at the dried persimmon drying yard in Danseong-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam.

According to Sancheong-gun on the 21st, the drying process of “Jirisan Sancheong Dried Persimmon,” made from “Sancheong Gojongsi (astringent persimmon)” grown at the foot of Jirisan Mountain in Sancheong-gun, is in full swing.
Currently, more than 1,300 farms are accelerating production to create premium dried persimmons.
Jirisan Sancheong Dried Persimmon is loved not only in Korea but also worldwide for its excellent quality.
In 2010, a famous anecdote involved a letter from Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom expressing admiration for the long tradition and quality of Sancheong dried persimmons.
Sancheong-gun expects this year’s persimmon harvest to be good, forecasting an increase in production compared to last year.
Boasting a sweet and chewy texture, dried persimmons are a traditional Korean snack rich in vitamins A and C, making them a popular nutritious winter treat.
Rich in glucose and fructose, they are effective in breaking down acetaldehyde, the cause of hangovers, and are known as a hangover remedy food.
They are also known to help prevent high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis, treat diarrhea, relieve hangovers, and prevent bronchitis.
Sancheong-gun was the first in the nation to complete geographical indication registration in the dried persimmon sector (June 9, 2006, Korea Forest Service No. 3) and supports safe dried persimmon production through modernization of production facilities.
While widely promoting these high-quality dried persimmons, Sancheong-gun holds the “Jirisan Sancheong Dried Persimmon Festival” annually to expand farmers’ income.
