Yeonggwang-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Disaster Management Evaluation
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 21st that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 2022 Disaster Management Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and received the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Institutional Commendation.
The Disaster Management Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to diagnose the major capabilities of disaster management responsible agencies such as central government ministries, public institutions, and local governments in six areas and 34 indicators including prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
The county received the highest score in financial management in the disaster safety field, including financial investment in safety management plans and covering costs for disaster management.
In addition, it received favorable evaluations in disaster preparedness activities by conducting inspection activities to prevent disaster accidents by type such as quarantine, forest fires, and construction site safety accidents, and by facility such as densely populated buildings and multi-use living facilities, as well as promoting the Safe Korea Disaster Response Training and conducting independent disaster preparedness drills.
Furthermore, it was recognized in the field of establishing disaster preparedness and response posture by operating a comprehensive disaster safety situation room for disaster situation management during disaster occurrences and maintaining a cooperative system with related organizations such as police and fire departments to maintain a response system for disaster information management.
The county strengthened disaster response capabilities by proactively securing flood control materials and other resources to establish an emergency mobilization system for disaster management resources, and through river disaster restoration projects, it not only restored functions but also took proactive measures to prevent future damage through improvement restoration projects.
Governor Kang Jongman said, “Strengthening safety capabilities is the first step to protecting the lives and property of residents,” and added, “We will not be complacent with this excellent institution selection and will continue to do our best so that residents can live with peace of mind.”
