Seocho-gu, Gangnam Station and Sadang Station Illegal Extensions and Violations Emergency Inspection
Seocho-gu to Conduct Intensive Inspections of Various Violations on Pedestrian Walkways in Commercial Areas near Gangnam Station and Sadang Station until the 25th... Active Measures Including Administrative Actions and Criminal Charges Planned to Ensure Residents' Safety Upon Violation Detection
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will conduct intensive inspections of various illegal activities such as unauthorized expansions along pedestrian sidewalks in the commercial dense areas around Gangnam Station and Sadang Station until the 25th.
Following the Itaewon tragedy, the district formed a joint inspection team consisting of six departments including the Housing Improvement Division, Architecture Division, Street Administration Division, Sanitation Division, and Seocho Fire Station to prepare for potential safety accidents.
The inspection will cover illegal buildings with unauthorized expansions on pedestrian roads in the commercial dense areas around Gangnam Station and Sadang Station, various structures violating building lines, and unauthorized storage of items along roadsides that obstruct citizens' walking.
The inspection target areas include four commercial facility dense alleys such as Seocho-daero 75-gil behind Kyobo Tower from Exit 10 of Gangnam Station, Gangnam-daero 69-gil, and five alleys including Bangbaecheon-ro behind Exit 14 of Sadang Station. These areas are known as some of the most densely populated regions in Seoul, and the district plans to ensure pedestrian safety through proactive inspections.
The district plans to take strict action upon detecting violations. According to the administrative action standards for illegal buildings, two correction orders will be issued; if not complied with, legal action will follow. For habitual and intentional violations, enforcement fines will be strictly imposed, and strong administrative measures will be taken.
Meanwhile, the district recently prepared the 'Crowd Density Safety Accident Response Manual' guideline to prepare for safety accidents that may occur during events with unspecified hosts or crowd-dense events. Safety personnel will be deployed in major congested areas such as Gangnam Station, Express Bus Terminal, Sadang Station, Gyodae Station, and Bangbae Station, with patrols and emergency duty in charge areas. The Seocho Smart Hub Center (control center) will monitor CCTV in real time to report and disseminate information if dangerous situations arise to prevent safety accidents.
