Seven city council members belonging to the Daegu City Council Culture and Welfare Committee issued a statement on the 18th, urging the immediate cancellation of the Daegu Stadium event, saying, “Daegu City hastily approved the use of the stadium for a religious event gathering 100,000 people without careful consideration, shortly after the ‘Itaewon tragedy’ caused numerous casualties.”
The council members raised their voices, saying, “Even now, for the sake of Daegu’s image and citizens’ safety, cancel the approval for the large-scale religious event that proceeded without careful review.”
